AFF Course – Your first step into the World of Skydiving
Skydiving has always been an exhilarating experience—a combination of adrenaline, freedom, and an extraordinary sense of control over your own body. To begin this adventure safely and in accordance with the highest standards, the best choice is the AFF (Accelerated Free Fall) course.
This is a modern, accelerated training method used worldwide that allows you to quickly and effectively master the basics of skydiving. Thanks to intensive theoretical instruction, practical exercises on the ground, and individually tailored jumps with an instructor, students quickly gain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform solo jumps.
How does the AFF course work?
The training consists of three stages: a theoretical component, ground exercises, and practical jumps. Each of these stages is essential for trainees to build a solid foundation and gradually progress toward greater independence in the air.
Theoretical training
At this stage, the student acquires the knowledge that forms the foundation for safe skydiving. Topics covered include:
- safety rules applicable during jumps,
- the construction and operation of a parachute,
- the basics of aviation law in Poland,
- elements of meteorology relevant to skydivers,
- emergency procedures and how to handle exceptional situations.
Theory classes are held in small groups of 3–4 people, which allows the instructor to give each participant their full attention. Sessions are usually held on Fridays at the airport in Piotrków Trybunalski.
Ground exercises
After completing the theoretical portion, practical ground training begins. The goal of this stage is to develop proper habits and prepare the student for actual jumps.
During ground exercises, participants learn:
- how to maintain proper body position during freefall,
- how to open the parachute correctly,
- how to respond in emergency situations.
By practicing these elements regularly, all the movements will feel natural and you’ll perform them with confidence during your first jump.
IMPORTANT INFO! Wind tunnel training
Want to experience freefall before your first jump?
A wind tunnel is the perfect place to stress-free test how your body behaves in the air under fully controlled conditions.
Thanks to exercises in the wind tunnel, you can:
- quickly develop the correct body position,
- repeat maneuvers multiple times without waiting for a plane,
- gain confidence and significantly speed up your learning.
Practical training – jumps from an altitude of 4,200 meters
The most important and exciting stage is the practical jumps. This is when the student applies the knowledge and skills they have previously acquired in real-world conditions.
On average, the course involves about 7 jumps, though the number is adjusted individually based on the participant’s progress. Instructors continuously assess readiness for subsequent stages and—if necessary—may recommend additional jumps.
The training process is as follows:
- the first jumps take place with two instructors, who accompany the student from the moment they exit the plane until the parachute opens,
- Subsequent jumps are conducted under the supervision of a single instructor, allowing for a gradual increase in independence,
After the parachute opens, the student remains in radio contact with the instructor until a safe landing.
Every jump is recorded on video and then discussed in detail, which allows for error analysis and progress tracking.
What happens after the AFF course?
After completing the course, you become a student skydiver. This means you can now perform subsequent jumps on your own, but of course under the watchful eye of an instructor who is waiting for you on the ground. He will check your equipment, offer advice, and help you whenever you need it.
Once you’ve completed 50 jumps, you can take the state exam for the PJ(B) Qualification Certificate, issued by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Once you obtain it, you become a fully independent skydiver with an official license, and then… the entire world of skydiving is wide open to you!
You can jump in groups, develop your skills in various disciplines (e.g., aerial formations, freefly, or wingsuit), and fulfill your next dreams.
